There is nothing old-timey-er than the sound of a horse trotting down a cobblestone street. Now, thanks to Trotify, you can enjoy this auditory pleasure while also making your mustachioed hipster friends wildly envious.

If that weren’t enough of a selling point, Trofity is also DIY, as there is some assembly required. After you buy it, the company ships you a sheet of wood from which you need to pop out the parts to assemble the product. via Trotify makes your bike sound like a trotting horse

It looks like the 2015 Best Parent of the Year Award is all but a lock for Australian Instructables user ‘Tez_Gelmir’ who built this custom Return of the Jedi Speeder Bike rocking horse for his daughter. And Tez gets bonus points for meticulously documenting its construction, and sharing those details with the world.

A word of warning, though, this build isn’t for the faint of heart. You’re going to need some serious wood-working, metal-working, manufacturing, and even upholstery skills to get your Speeder Bike rocker looking as amazing as Tez’s does. via The Dad of the Year Built His Daughter a Custom Speeder Bike Rocking Horse

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — As a recent high school graduate from a middle-class Kabul family, Mohammed Fahim Aazar has the means to go to college and pursue a profession in Afghanistan, but instead he’s acquired a $5,600 visa and a plane ticket to Turkey, where he will embark on the migrant trail to Europe.

The 19-year-old said he has had enough of his country’s never-ending wars and dismal job prospects. “Every day there is another suicide attack, and when a person leaves his house he cannot be sure he will make it back alive.”

Bound for far-off Finland, he’s joining the largest wave of global migrants and refugees since World War II, hundreds of thousands of people seeking a better life in Europe. Afghans make up the second largest nationality — after Syrians — arriving on Europe’s shores, accounting for nearly a fifth of total arrivals, according to the U.N.

Their flight is driven by despair in a country that remains mired in war and poverty despite a 14-year U.S.-led intervention and billions of dollars in international aid. And their ranks include middle and upper-class Afghans with skills needed to rebuild the war-torn country.

“Our leaders and those who use Afghanistan as a battleground for their own strategic aims don’t think about us, about young people who have the ability and the desire to do something for their country. So we are leaving. That’s it.”

Those allegations claim that Volkswagen’s 2.0-liter TDI engine and its 3.0-liter V6 TDI engine are equipped with emissions-cheating devices.

The EPA claims that the technology — a so-called defeat device meant to yield false results on emissions tests — is the same that Volkswagen admitted to using on its smaller, 2.0-liter engines in September.

For its part, Volkswagen has denied the latest allegations from the EPA concerning the larger 3.0-liter V6. In a statement released Tuesday, the manufacturer declared that “no software has been installed in the 3-liter, V6 diesel-power units to alter emissions characteristics in a forbidden manner.”
